  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Description

This warm and creamy baked brie in a bread bowl is an indulgent appetizer perfect for holidays or special gatherings. Filled with gooey brie, sweet cranberry sauce, and fragrant thyme, it’s an elegant yet easy crowd-pleaser that’s ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 large round loaf of bread (sourdough or artisan)
  • 1 wheel of brie (812 oz)
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Crackers or veggie sticks (for serving)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving a thick shell. Save the bread pieces for dipping.
  • Assemble the Brie: Place the brie wheel inside the hollowed bread bowl. Spread cranberry sauce over the top and sprinkle with thyme leaves.
  • Brush the Bread: Brush the outer edges of the bread bowl with olive oil or melted butter for a golden crust.
  • Bake: Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with extra thyme, and serve warm with bread pieces, crackers, or veggies.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the bread bowl in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in foil and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
  • Variations: Try fig jam or caramelized onions instead of cranberry sauce, or add chopped nuts for texture.
