Ingredients
- ½ cup (113g) butter, softened
- ½ cup (120g) peanut butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ cups (135g) rolled oats
- 1 cup (170g) red and green chocolate candies (e.g., M&Ms)
- ½ cup (85g) chocolate chips
- ½ cup (60g) chopped peanuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheets:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. - Cream Butter and Sugars:
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. - Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla:
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. - Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. - Mix Dough:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined. Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate candies, chocolate chips, and optional chopped peanuts. - Shape Cookies:
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to form dough into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading. - Bake:
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft. - Cool:
Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Add a slice of bread to keep them soft.
- Freezing Dough: Scoop dough into balls and freeze on a baking sheet. Transfer to a freezer bag and bake from frozen, adding 1-2 minutes to the bake time.
- Variations: For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour with a gluten-free blend. Replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option.
