  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies

Description

Christmas Monster Cookies are chewy, festive treats packed with peanut butter, oats, chocolate candies, and chocolate chips. Perfect for holiday gatherings or gifting, these cookies combine hearty textures with a colorful, sweet flair.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (113g) butter, softened
  • ½ cup (120g) peanut butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups (135g) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (170g) red and green chocolate candies (e.g., M&Ms)
  • ½ cup (85g) chocolate chips
  • ½ cup (60g) chopped peanuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheets:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream Butter and Sugars:
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla:
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix Dough:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined. Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate candies, chocolate chips, and optional chopped peanuts.
  • Shape Cookies:
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to form dough into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  • Bake:
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
  • Cool:
Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Add a slice of bread to keep them soft.
  • Freezing Dough: Scoop dough into balls and freeze on a baking sheet. Transfer to a freezer bag and bake from frozen, adding 1-2 minutes to the bake time.
  • Variations: For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour with a gluten-free blend. Replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option.
