Description

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or linguine)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini)
  • ½ cup heavy cream or milk (optional for creamy version)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or parsley
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta
    • Boil pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
    • Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Prepare the Mushroom Mixture
    • Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Stir in mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden and tender.
    • Season with thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Create the Sauce (optional for creamy version)
    • Add heavy cream or milk to the skillet and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Combine Pasta and Sauce
    • Toss the cooked pasta with the mushroom mixture.
    • Stir in Parmesan cheese and reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until the sauce coats the pasta.
  • Garnish and Serve
    • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan if desired.
