Description

These Green Velvet Brownies are a festive, fudgy treat topped with creamy cream cheese frosting. Perfect for holidays like St. Patrick’s Day or anytime you want a colorful and indulgent dessert!

Ingredients

Brownies:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp green food coloring
  • 1⅓ cups (170g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (43g) cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tbsp (56g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
    • Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and green food coloring until fully combined.
  3. Combine dry ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  4. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  5. Make the frosting:
    • In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
    • Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Assemble: Once the brownies are completely cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly on top. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Storage: Store brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Bring to room temperature before serving.
  • Freezing: Freeze frosted or unfrosted brownies for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight.
  • Customization: Swap green food coloring for another color to fit different holidays or celebrations.
  • Tip for clean cuts: Use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between each slice for neat edges.
