  • Author: Julia Childley
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

A quick and flavorful side dish featuring crispy bacon, caramelized Brussels sprouts, and a sweet maple-balsamic glaze. Perfect for weeknight dinners or holiday gatherings!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) Brussels sprouts, halved
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Cook the bacon: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped bacon and cook until crispy (6-8 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
  • Sauté the Brussels sprouts: Add halved Brussels sprouts to the skillet, cut side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Add seasoning and glaze: Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat the sprouts evenly.
  • Finish cooking: Cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the Brussels sprouts are tender. Stir in the crispy bacon.
  • Serve warm: Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle with toasted pecans or walnuts before serving.
  • To add a spicy kick, mix in red pepper flakes with the garlic.
  • This recipe is best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
