Description

Soft, buttery, and fluffy, these Thanksgiving rolls are the perfect addition to your holiday table. Made with simple ingredients, they’re easy to prepare and pair wonderfully with all your favorite festive dishes.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • ¼ cup (50 g) sugar
  • ⅓ cup (75 g) butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
  • Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead: On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Shape Rolls: Punch down the dough, divide it into 16 equal pieces, and shape into balls. Arrange them in a greased baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Second Rise: Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30-40 minutes, until puffy.
  • Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Finish: Brush the warm rolls with melted butter for a soft, shiny finish.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is the correct temperature (110°F/45°C) to properly activate the yeast.
  • For a richer flavor, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on the rolls before baking.
  • Rolls are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven or microwave if needed.
