Ingredients

For the Stroganoff:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups (480ml) beef broth
  • ½ cup (120g) sour cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

For the Noodles:

  • 12 oz (340g) egg noodles (or pasta of choice)

Instructions

1. Cook the Noodles

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions.
  • Drain and set aside.

2. Sauté the Vegetables

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion, garlic, and mushrooms.
  • Cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

3. Brown the Ground Beef

  • Add the ground beef to the skillet.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  • Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

4. Make the Sauce

  • Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir to coat evenly.
  • Slowly pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly.
  • Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

5. Add the Sour Cream

  • Reduce heat to low and stir in the sour cream.
  • Mix until smooth and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

6. Combine and Serve

  • Toss the cooked noodles with the sauce until well coated.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Thicker Sauce? Add a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water).
  • Gluten-Free? Use gluten-free pasta and substitute flour with cornstarch.
  • Dairy-Free? Use dairy-free sour cream or coconut cream.
